Parish Notes June 2017

It has been so wonderful being back in school full time! Thank you for those who have welcomed me back and for your kind words.
We have certainly had a busy few weeks.  The children have been ‘Learning from the Land’ as their main topic – so it has been great seeing the children planning and growing things in the grounds. The Gospel value focus has been about forgiveness. ‘Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive others’ Colossians 3:13.
At the end of April, our Reception children – many of whom are still only 4 – led a fabulous service in church about St George.  They spoke so clearly and confidently I hope that they never lose this.
A group of year 6 children have also led worship, which they had planned and organised themselves.  How wonderful as they will lead here with such confidence to lead worship for others.
Many of the sporting activities commence this term.  A group of year 3 and 4 children enjoyed the local tennis tournament.  Next week a different group will be representing the school at the Quad Kids.  Following this, it is our younger children’s chance to shine at the Animal Olympics!
Eight children from year 5 volunteered to take part in a Money Matters programme.  This is looking at debt awareness.  They have already spoken to me in significant details about ‘wants and needs!’  I am sure that these may be the bank managers of the future!
Ground surveys have begun with regards to our expansion.  These are checking the areas that will be affected by the two new classrooms, additional studio space, car parking and MUGA.  Hopefully these will be clear so that progress can be swift.  It is such an exciting chapter for the life of the school.
We have forty children joining our school family in Reception in September.  Please pray for them and their families – it is such an important and significant step for all of them.  Mrs Harris has organised three stay and play sessions this year, which cover all times of the school day.  This is in addition to our welcome evening.

The next few weeks are out ‘testing times’ in school. Our children work hard on their learning and strive to be the best that they can be.  Whatever outcomes the tests give them, I am so proud of them all and the qualities that they also develop through our focus on the Gospel values, which provide us all with a clear framework for life.  I pray that our children remember them as they move onto the next chapter in their lives.
