Parish Notes May 2019

School Prayer
Lord teach us how to keep your day
Lead and bless us on our way
Christ within our hearts and minds
His care and love forever binds.
It is so wonderful to be enjoying the Spring days.  As I am writing these notes in the Easter holidays, school is very quiet!  I am sure that all our children are enjoying a good rest with their families.  I look forward to hearing about their adventures as they return to school refreshed and ready for the Summer term learning adventures! As our holidays have fallen before Easter, we ended the Spring Term with Rev Tracy leading a lent service for the whole school.  The children therefore will return on Tuesday to celebrate Easter and enjoy worshipping in the church full of Easter displays.
The last few weeks of the Spring term were very busy.  Classes in the juniors enjoyed learning about William Shakespeare and performed ‘A play in a day!’ as well as learning at Gawthorpe Hall.  Infant classes enjoyed celebrating the 100th birthday of Winnie the Pooh.  Thankfully the weather was kind so that the children could learn in our very own ‘100 Acre Wood!’
This year, children from Year 6 took part in the Sing Together project with Blackburn Cathedral.  Fifteen very talented and dedicated children enjoyed performing at King George’s Hall… along with Mr Bradshaw who enjoyed the teacher’s song.
The children have continued to embrace our ever-increasing range of extracurricular activities.  Thank you to those who have joined us for ‘Knit and Natter!’ (New members are always welcome).  On the sporting field, we have performed well at football, netball, athletics and swimming. Mrs Fryer took a group of children to the KS1 Dance festival, where they had a wonderful time. The children in our recently formed ‘Lamda’ group performed for the rest of the school.
Parents of our Reception 2019 class have been informed by the local authority that they have been allocated places.  Currently we have 38 children, so therefore if you are aware of anyone who is unhappy with their allocation, please encourage them to contact us so that we can show them around school.
Please can you pray for those children who will be joining us and their families and for our year 6 children who are preparing for their move to their secondary schools.
Can you please also hold Mrs Dewhurst and Mrs Burton in your prayers.
