Parish Notes March 2018

What a busy few weeks we have had in school – despite it being such a short half term.   The children have all been working very hard and making good progress with their learning.  It has been nice this week to share this good news with parents.
I have been delighted this year by the hard work and efforts of the school council.  They have been particularly focused on their work for charities and have selected to very worthwhile causes.  As well as organising events, they have also arranged for representatives from the charities to come and talk to the whole school.  This has helped all of the children realise how different organisations benefit from their endeavours.  I look forward to seeing what they plan for the summer term, as well as listening to their suggestions for school improvement!
Over the last month we have also experienced much success on the sporting field.  Different football teams have experienced success in a number of tournaments and our Athletics team will be representing the Ribble Valley in Blackpool. What sporty children we have!
After half term, children in year 5 and 6 will be having a series of lessons led by Mr Bovenizer from the Faith Mission.  He will explore the Bible with them, deepening their understanding of the Old and New Testament.  All of the children really look forward to his lessons. Blackburn Rovers will also be continuing to work in school.  They will be leading a PSHCE programme with year 6 children on a Wednesday afternoon.
I would request at this time that you add Mrs Burton to your list of prayers.  She is currently at home recovering from an operation. Whilst away, Hawthorn class is being taught by Miss Moriarty.
