Mission Action Plan

Loving God … Serving Others

At St. Leonard’s we are a worshipping, praying community, where Gospel values are proclaimed as the way of life. We strive to develop discipleship in self and others and care for and serve the needs of the community and beyond

Our Vision

At St. Leonard’s we want to be …

  • A place where Gospel values are proclaimed as the way of life
  • A community where discipleship is developed in self and others
  • A Church that reaches out, cares for, and serves the needs of the community and beyond

The gospel not only explains the need for change, but also provides the power to bring it about, a power which comes from the finished work of Christ on the cross, from who God is and what he has done, with the Spirit as the agent of transformation in our lives.

Our Mission

To be a Church that …

  • Builds up the Body of Christ in our area
  • Focuses on prayer and worship
  • Seeks to serve
  • Is welcoming
  • Maintains tradition whilst being relevant

To have a Church that …

  • Responds to the needs of the community by being adaptable and flexible
  • Maintains and develops it’s financial viability

To develop a Church that …

  • Learns and knows what it is to live by Gospel values
  • Promotes discipleship individually and as a group
  • Equips and enables it’s people to love and serve God and their neighbour

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it

What are we going to do achieve our Mission?

  1. Trust in God, prayerfully discern His will for us at St. Leonard’s and be open to the workings of the Holy Spirit on us
  2. Live and work to Gospel values
  3. Have service at the core of what we do
  4. Encourage others to develop their own discipleship and make disciples of others
  5. Effectively Communicate our faith to others
  6. Utilise our existing strengths and seek to add to them
  7. Maximise giving, income, and attract funding to ensure the sustainability of the Church in the long term
  8. Make best use of the Church to enhance worship, access and use of the building
  9. Continue to forge strong relationships with St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School and with the parish and people of St. Peter’s, Salesbury
  10. Maintain, create and develop community and ecumenical links and work in partnership with these

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light
